what the hell? come on! can you catch anything of size in cali of the beach. why even put this on youtube. awsome!?
You got to be kidding, duck wadders, GPS.Un real, throw the iron, is this guy that big of a dork in real life. Been surf fishing S.D. sence the 60s grew up in O.B. moved to Hi. in mid 90s. this kills me. but the sun glasses are a good idea.
Nah when i said “mackerel dont count” i was talking to that one pinoyfag.. He said “my record is 45 fish in one hour”
I catch fish all the time with BSP..
You sounded like a noob at first, but now you sound more seasoned. I apologize.
Where are the pics?
@mmmmmarcus My friend fishes gulp “smelt”and “new penny shrimp” all the time. He does pretty well on both halibut and bass.
@mmmmmarcus GOOGLED??? LIAR??? I don’t know where you fish, but here in San Diego, if your preferred Hali bait is Barred Surfperch, then ur a FARMER. This is 30 years of targeting the Cali Hali in San Diego shallows speaking. Need proof? Go check out all my pics on Crystal Pier and IB pier. Ask the workers who “The Halibutman” is. If not satisfied, I can send a shitload more pics of slabs I caught off my kayak and in the surf. By the way, I’ve caught many a barndoor on live macks.
Mackerel dont count. LMFAO
Liar! we all know you googled that info.
*Meh* it works, but not well.
I DO catch alot of short halibut with strips of mack when targetting sharks though. For the smaller, dumber Halis, yes.
For older halis legal sized and up– Nope. lures and live bait are the best.
will mackeral work well for halibut?
@2tallbrandon You got that right!! Caught plenty with shiner perch though. Queenfish and grunion are my favo
rite live for flatties, but ‘chovies, ‘dines, small macks, smelt and even lizardfish work better than barred.. I will only use barred and walleye as a last resort. Almost all the legal halibut I’ve caught in San Diego are full of smelt or grunion.
You are dead-on. Tamban is a relative of the pacific sardine, and is effective because of the sheer amount of oil they contain.
But here in california, we are restricted to our own fish.
Sardines, Perch, and mackerel are the best baits for socal.
I don’t know what you people are talking about as I don’t know English name of fish. But I can tell you, the best bait is TAMBAN.
No they dont, they work better than jacksmelt.
hook a live perch and send it out there, you are likely to catch a hali.
bar perch? those suck for bait!
if you plan to do some surf fishing in socal, one big piece of advice i can give you, is to NOT use gulp. Gulp only gets you tiny little perch.
If you want big fat perch, corbina, and croaker, you have to use live sand crabs. For halibut, live perch make an excellent bait, far better than smelt. Most legal halibut you catch will have perch in their stomachs.
spotfin croaker
only if your PIER fishing
yes it is a leader where usually people have their hook it is usaually attached by a swivel and has a weight behind the swivel
it is the carolina rig very popular among fisherman when fishing grubs or surf fishing in general
which fish?
