Why is it easier to pick up germs than to remove them?

So we can pick up germs by simply touching things for a second, so why is it that we have to wash our hands for 30 seconds to remover the gerrms? Shouldn’t they come off as easy as they get on? Do we really just pick up a couple out of a million and they multiply quickly? What’s the deal?

Healthier than bisquick but the kids will still love it?

we eat a lot of breads, pancakes, waffles, etc in this house and i always use the healthy heart bisquick. its enriched white flour though and i would like to move more towards whole grain. i am not a big fan of baking or cooking and would want a mix like bisquick that is already ready to baking. I dont want something with 15 ingredients! anything out there? all this flax and wheat germ stuff i highly doubt my kids would eat. thanks!

Why is a cornfield more vulnerable to insect and plant disease than a grassland?

Why is a simplified community such as a cornfield usually vulnerable to harm from insects and plant disease than a more complex, natural community such as a grassland?

I have been trying to find the correct answer to this question, but after reading the book (crappy book) I cant find anything and I NEVER ask for homework help, but please someone. This is the last question and I cant even begin to formulate a somewhat correct answer!
Thanks for the great answers guys. I am a Computer Sciences major, and the environmental class is a requirement! I can logically get through most of this stuff on my own, but this one just eluded me!

How much worse is the swine flu than the regular seasonal flu?

Do you know where I can find statistics on how many people die from regular flu so I can compare it to how many die with swine flu. What are the dangers of both and how are the different from eachother. This is all for an argument I’m having with someone that thinks swine flu is extremely worse than regular flu. I think the media over played it. Thanks for any answers.
