Forget all the fancy interfaces and gimmicks – this is a tool for people who actually want to study fast and effectively. I have to admit that my first impression of this product was rather a 3.5 out of 5, however, I went deeper into the material and have to say that this is one of the best learning programs I have ever seen (especially for beginners). I just love to carry the stick with me and to learn at any PC without installing. Also the booklets that come with the software are very helpful. APPLAUSE!

Before I got this Multimedia Suite, I had already known the learning software MemoryLifter for some time. I have used some of the free Learning Modules offered and I have also created my own modules. Now I was very curious to see this new portable solution on a USB stick. And, indeed, it’s easy – just plug and learn

As adviced in the complementary study guide, I started with the first Learning Module to learn the numbers. It did not take long and I could recognize the numbers from 1 to 999. I had always thought, that Chinese characters were so difficult to learn, but to start with numbers made it easy. I also saved the audiobooks on my ipod, and I enjoy listening to them. The audiobooks consist of the audiofiles played while learning. The files are named after the chapters, so that you can select “numbers” or “countries”. You always have time to repeat, you hear the Chinese pronunciation, the English translation and the Chinese again. I am quite impressed by this product and I am looking forward to suites in other languages.

I have been looking for a systematic way to memorize these characters and have found this program to be the best way to do so. The software systematically guides you through the memorization process and repeats items precisely as often as is necessary to memorize a character securely. I also love the fact that the program simultaneously allows you to train optical and audio recognition, or to focus on one or the other. The interface does look a bit complicated at first, but once you work with it for a bit, it becomes quite manageable. Overall, I would recommend this suite to anyone who is undertaking the task of memorizing Chinese characters.

This suite offers a new approach to memorizing a large amount of characters that actually works. The software is much more than a basic flashcard software. It is actually built to help people memorize a large amount of information (MemoryLifter, as freeware, has been around for a long time… I have used it to study other subjects before). I love the different study modes, especially the multiple choice and the listening mode and I like the fact that I can also switch the learning direction (i.e. learn from English to Chinese as well). Other nice features are the audio and the large calligraphies.
The study guide is helpful, but the “Learn to Learn” booklet, I could do without. Still, with the software, the flashcards, the study guide, the audiobooks….this is a fabulous package… in my opinion the best approach I have seen to actually wrap your mind around memorizing all these characters.
Oh, I also like the fact that this is a USB stick, some people like to have all their stuff tied to one PC but I like the portability this offers.
