Genie Backup Manager Professional V8.0

Genie Backup Manager Pro 8.0 is simple to use, even for a novice like me. Shortly after installing the program, I had an opportunity to restore some financial account files that had mysteriously disappeared from my Quicken program. The Restore process was intuitive and easy to navigate. The tutorials were clear and helpful. Everyone should have this program: hard drive “crashs” are inevitable.

I bought this software for the specific purpose of creating a set of disaster recovery disks so that I could avoid reinstalling my operating system and sundry programs when I installed the new hard drive I bought.
It took two hours and thirty minutes to backup my old drive, swap in the new drive, and restore the backup. Probably forty-five minutes of that was spent fiddling around trying to get it to recognize the new drive. My fault as I didn’t bother reading the manual before I started.
After the backup was restored I had to use my Vista install dvd to refresh the boot sector (or what ever they call it these days) to get the system to recognize it as a boot device. Once I did that the system came back like a champ.
Compared to the eight hours it normally takes to install Vista from scratch (including downloading and installing all the necessary updates from Microsoft), load the software that I use, and get everything configured to suit me, I consider that $70 well spent even if I never use it again. Plus, I now have a set of disaster recovery DVD’s that I can use anytime if I should have a drive failure or decide to upgrade drives again.
Bottom line: I can’t say how it works as a day to day backup manager. I can say that it worked wonderfully as disaster recovery program. If your time is valuable, this program is worth the price for what it saves you vs doing a fresh install of your operating system, drivers, programs, etc.

The best and easiest backup software for your computer. I like it so much I recommend it to all my friends and have bought it as gifts.

Running under vista. Works great – very easy to set up. No crashes, no glitches.

I bought a new LaCie External Hard Drive, and this software came with it. Quite simply, it doesn’t work. I had multiple crashes, out of memory messages etc. Steer clear. I now use Syncback SE, and it works just fine.
